Eleven Ithaca College students recieved the "MLK NOW" Award for their above-and-beyond service during the college's annual MLK Day of Service, which concluded a week of educational workshops and performances. The "MLK NOW" Award is given to one student from each volunteer group who demonstrates servant leadership and exceptional teamwork. The winners are voted on by the members of their group.
Several Mercyhurst students volunteered at the Winter Special Olympics, co-sponsored by Erie's Public Schools and the Council for Exceptional Children of Mercyhurst University, where more than 200 athletes with special needs competed in the annual event at Peek 'n Peak Resort in Clymer, N.Y.
